Being Mediocre

lonely-man-bridge-by-stefano-corso

We all have grown up listening to the assertion by our seniors that we are living in an imperfect world along with imperfect people dealing with imperfect circumstances striving to achieve perfection for a better tomorrow. The strange thing that I find here is that we are aiming to make this planet a better place to live for our future generation but considering the cut throat competition in every field or domain in the current scenario, it can be easily predicted that situations would get even tougher for a person to survive along with his collaborators. The Morning Dream

Image result for lonely man in park

One morning I was walking along the road all alone talking to myself with a million thoughts hovering over my mind. The streets were silent with not a single person around and the color all over was changing from dark to yellow because of the sunrise. There was a strange silence all around and all I could hear was the continuous thumping of my feet on the road while walking, the sound of my own breath & heartbeat and the murmuring I was doing at irregular intervals to myself. There was a light breeze around me but none of these atmospheric elements were successful in distracting me from the arguments I was having with myself in my mind. And there was this one single question that I kept on asking myself continuously which I believe could be the signature question of every young individual in this world. That question was “Why am I here?

Queuing Up

Image result for bank queue demonetisation

Once I read a quote in a book that “The best possible way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.” But a few days back I identified a better alternative to that which was to keep your money in bank rather than putting it in pocket, hiding below your mattress or saving it at your homes in lockers because you never know when your hard earned money may just turn out to be a simple piece of paper with no value at all. If somebody would have told you this a month ago, you would have considered it to be unimaginable but on November 8, 2016, the Indian government made a historic decision of demonetizing currency notes of Rs 500 & Rs 1000 and bringing in new currency notes of Rs 500 & Rs 2000 in order to the curb the menace of black money in the Indian system. To ‘debate’ or not to ‘debate’

121003111516-podiums-story-top

I first came across the term ‘debate’ in 5th standard when there was an inter-house debate competition organized in school. The only idea I had about it was that there would be random students coming on stage and would be speaking on a topic and then there will be another set of students who would be opposing on the topic. I used to get so awed by the confidence level of the seniors with which they used to speak on stage in fluent English during these competitions that I never bothered to listen and understand what they were actually speaking upon. However, later I realized that I have come across a lot of debates even before the competition took place in school. Continue reading “To ‘debate’ or not to ‘debate’”

The Transition

Image result for college to corporate

It almost seems like yesterday when I got the news of getting my first job while appearing for placement process in college. It was the 11th company that I was applying for after getting rejected from straight 10 companies. In some processes, I got stuck in the first round itself in the written test. In some after clearing the written test, I didn’t had any clue about the topic that was given in the Group discussion. And in some, I was not considered to be the most suitable candidate among the entire short listed students after the final interview round. That phase in college actually tests your character regarding how much patience you can show when all your friends are getting placed and you are still struggling to find a job for yourself. The Farewell

Finally the day has arrived for which I was waiting for a long time to happen. There could be a million of times when I might have prayed to god to bring this day soon in my life to relieve me from all the stresses and tensions I have faced all this time. It is the day of the wedding of my younger sister and right now I feel like I am the happiest person in the world.

A Battle that was not Lost

battle field

Most of the time of our childhood is spent on remembering (or rote memorizing) the dates of different battles that were fought in the Indian history. Our history books was filled with the battles fought in the medieval times, namely Battle of Panipat, Battle of Chanderi, Battle of Plassey and so on which took place for one reason or the other. If that was not enough, the Hindi literature books had some random chapters of historic personalities such as Ashoka, Akbar & Arjuna or some historic events such as Mahabharta & Ramayana which again covered the battles that happened during that era. Demystifying the ‘B-Day’

B-day

Time is really a strange thing because the more you try to decode it, the more you fell into the trap laid down by it. It’s most unique quality is that it doesn’t stop for anyone and moves at its own pre-decided pace. In your good times, you want it to go slow but soon you realize it’s already over in a whisker. In tough times, you want it to rush quickly but it will move at the speed of a snail & make you feel like a mountain is continuously falling over your head every moment. A Lost Friend

lost_friend

When I was a kid, I had a friend who lived in my neighborhood. At that age, the only definition of being friend with someone was that you both be around the same age and you get to play with each other toys. Our mothers were also good friends which made us spend more time with each other. Whenever our mothers went for shopping, they used to leave us in either of their house where we both used to have the best of our time. Continue reading “A Lost Friend”
